Looking Forward

i feel like we didn’t have too much of a summer this year. the weather never got extremely hot and, to be honest, we didn’t really get out to do too many “summery” things. i do have to say, though, i’m not sad to see summer go (summers were way more fun when i was younger; school was out and i didn’t have to go to work every day).

fall is my season. the cool air, the autumn smells and changing colors. i love every part of it. while the days still have been somewhat on the warmer side, the early mornings and evenings have begun to cool off. the chill in the air makes me even more ready for chunky knit sweaters, warm woolen socks and homemade soups.

in honor of fall here are a few other things i am looking forward to this season:

eating: everything apple; pies, crisps, caramel
drinking: hot teas, ciders and cocoa
wearing: oversized sweaters and scarves
cooking: more meals from scratch for my family
working: around the house on our never ending list of updates
reading: the fault in our stars and gone girl, which have been on my too read list for far too long
learning: more about essential oils and how to incorporate them into my everyday routine
traveling: when there is time even if it’s not too far away
preparing: the house for the fall and winter; lots of leaves to rake
hoping: the restless sleep i have been experiencing turns into restful nights
watching: the leaves fall
catching: up on scandal
practicing: patience and kindness
enjoying: time with my family
loving: my growing belly
knowing: when to relax and let it be
wishing: for a long fall and short winter
feeling: content with where i am at in my life
