A Christmas Date

while we are in the midst of the busiest time of the year it is always difficult to find a moment to relax and enjoy the company of one another. you would think being newly weds we’d constantly be doing fun things, enjoying married life, but the reality is when you get married a week before thanksgiving and a month before christmas you realize that finding that precious time to spend with one another can be tricky, even without kids.

in the middle of all the holiday hustle and bustle kyle and i did manage to enjoy a little date night for two this past weekend. we ran a few errands, ate a late, quiet lunch together, and saw a movie. we saw the hobbit. in 3d. it was great. following the movie kyle and i drove through the celebration of lights at menomonee park in oshkosh. it’s been a tradition of mine to make it there at least once every year. although not much changes i still get excited seeing the whole park lit up in thousands of christmas lights. the live reindeer on site help too! i can’t wait to bring my children to enjoy in this special tradition each year (and see santa!).

this is actually the second time kyle and i have made it to the park this winter. in the beginning of december kyle and i participated in the race for the light 5k through the park for the christine ann domestic abuse center. it was a great event with a lot of people coming out to support. we ran the majority of the way, but did stop occasionally to walk and take in the lights in the park (who am i kidding, to catch our breath too)! it was cold, but we made it to the finish line in under 40 minutes. we consider that an accomplishment.

as every one finishes their final preparations for the christmas festivities to come i wish you a warm and safe holiday. kyle and myself will be busy with six christmas’s of our own this year.

happy holidays! cheers!
