monday morning we woke up to a beautiful blanket of sparkly snow on the ground and for the first time in as long as i can remember i wasn’t upset about the change of the season (i’m off to a good start). it wasn’t until i started my commute to work that i realized all the annoyances the first snowfall of the season brings (i.e. people miraculously forgetting everything they ever learned about driving a vehicle). although the first day of winter hasn’t officially fallen upon us, the low temps and appearance of snow has me longing for those warm (late) spring days (not summer, summer is much too hot). however, even though i dread the cold, this year i am going to embrace those long winter months and i am going to try to make the best of each blisterty, snowy, dark, winter day. so with my boots laced up, my coat zipped to my chin, and my fingers toasty in their wool mittens i am accepting winter for all her loveliness.
here are a few things i’m looking forward to this winter season:
building a snowman
drinking hot teas, cider, and cocoa
curling up on the couch with a good book and a blanket
spending time with family and friends
appreciating one another
creating new memories and traditions with my husband
